Privacy

Pocket Perks is a free directory of local deals. You can use all of it without an account and without giving us any personal information. This page lists everything the site does collect.

If you join the email list

We store your email address, the date, which page you signed up from, and the wording you agreed to when you signed up. We use it only to send local deals. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you (see below).

If a business sends us an enquiry

The “List your business” form sends us the business name, your name, phone number, email address, town and any message. We use it only to reply.

If you have a business login

People who manage a listing through the business portal have a login. We store their email address, the name they sign changes with, a scrambled copy of their special word (which nobody, including us, can read back), and a record of every change they send: what it was, when, and whether we approved it. We use this only to run the listing and to know who asked for each change.

What we count

To show participating businesses whether their listing is working, we count how often their deals are shown and how often people open a deal or tap Call, Directions, a website link, a coupon code or Share. We also count searches, without recording who searched.

We do not store your IP address. To avoid counting the same visit twice, the server turns your connection and browser type into a one-way scrambled code. The recipe changes every day, so the code cannot follow you from one day to the next and cannot be turned back into anything that identifies you. The same kind of scrambled code is stored with email signups and business enquiries so we can stop automated abuse of those forms.

Cookies

One cookie, named pp_town, remembers which town you chose so we can show you deals from there. It holds only the town’s name, lasts a year, and is not used for advertising or tracking. Administrators and business logins who sign in to manage the site also receive sign-in cookies. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers.

Who else is involved

The site runs on Netlify (hosting) and Supabase (database), which process data on our behalf. Images are served from the site’s database. Business-portal emails (sign-in links and approval notices) are sent through Resend, when that is switched on. When you tap Get directions, Google Maps opens and Google’s own privacy policy applies there. Links to a business’s website or social pages take you to sites we do not control.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Children

The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Getting your information removed

Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us and we will remove your address or answer any question about the information we hold.
